Caribbean Crewed Yacht Charter
St. Lucia To Grenada
Arriving in St. Lucia from your international flight, an easy drive through the banana plantations takes you to Marigot Bay, where the Caibbean crewed yacht charter will await you in the ideal Caribbean setting. Spend the night at anchor before departing for Soufriere and the Pitons which provide a dramatic backdrop to this safe anchorage. Photographers delight in the sheer, physical beauty here. Soufriere is a small picturesque town of Creole ancestry. The Pitons rise straight from the sea to a height of 2,600 feet. A ten minute dinghy ride in either direction will take you to some of the best dives St. Lucia has to offer or one of the most magnificent beaches in the Caribbean. A visit to Jalousie Plantation might be considered, it’s a luxury resort developed by Sir Colin Tennant who’s previous island was Mustique further south.
It is a cruise of approximately 2 ½ hours to Chateaubelair in St. Vincent, which is a truly magical place located at the base of St. Vincent’s active volcano. There are beaches, reefs for snorkeling and a dive site considered ”magnificent”. Cruise around to Young Island, St. Vincent, where again the waters are superb and there are reefs and walls that drop hundreds of feet. The Young Island Resort is a delightful little resort that looks like it was dropped into a botanical garden. A two-minute dinghy ride away is Fort Duverne where the British dragged canons to the top of the rock and forced the Black Carib Indians to surrender.
Move south to Bequia and the wonderfully named Friendship Bay which offers fantastic protection. A half-moon beach and reef surround you. This is the home of the famous Bequia Boatbuiders, and if you take nothing else home from this holiday, a beautifully carved model boat is a must. Elizabethtown, the town, is a funky little place with neat shops, restaurants and bars. It has a rich history in boat-building, fishing, whaling and many of its residents are of English descent. Bequia is always lots of fun, a favorite of yachtsmen and it’s known as the Nantucket of the Caribbean.
The next stop is Mustique which is the private island home of many rich and famous people. Again, absolutely crystal-clear waters with long beautiful beaches. Go have a drink at Basils Bar, one of the most famous watering-holes in the Caribbean (probably due to who might show up!) Grab a taxi and see all the lovely winter homes and visit the Cotton House, a beautiful small hotel (the only one) converted from a cotton plantation. It has magnificent views and provides a wonderful spot poolside to have a drink and absorb the surroundings.
Canouan, and in particular the best overnight spot of Charlestown Bay, is a great favorite. The diving and snorkeling here are terrific too. Walls with giant boulders, sloping reefs and sharks, turtles and rays are often spotted. Here on Canouan is the ultra luxurious Carenage Bay Resort and Golf Course.
Next, a short hop to Mayreau to visit the incredible half-moon beach at Salt Whistle Bay before moving on to the Tobago Cays. The Tobago Cays have at least five excellent anchorages and is very well protected by an enormous reef which is again perfect for diving and snorkeling. The waters around here are magnificent!
Just a short hop south of the Tobago Cays are several more interesting islands. Union Island, with beautiful Chatham Bay to the west, Palm Island, the resort island right next door to Union Island. Petit St. Vincent (also affectionately known as PSV) with it’s exclusive little resort and a delightful anchorage. Just to the south of PSV it Petit Martinique, here inexpensive bootlegged liquor can be had due to the fact that they refuse to pay taxes to Grenada.
Again, just south is Carriacou. This island offers very settled anchorages which are great for water skiing apart from the usual snorkeling and diving while on your Caribbean crewed yacht charter.
Leaving the splendor of the Grenadines will be tough, but the famous island of Grenada awaits, with lush green mountains, waterfalls, golden beaches, beautiful hummingbirds. Touring this island is like taking a safari. Grenada is the “Isle of Spice” and you must visit one of the plantations and pick some nutmeg for yourself before you trip home. St. Georges, Grenada with its red fish-tiled roofed colonial town, fascinating spice market, beautiful beaches and magnificent natural harbor is the point of disembarkation. The international airport provides an easy point of departure for flights to many international destinations.
